Law Student - MPLP 2010 Summer Law Clerk Positions - Ann Arbor
The Michigan Poverty Law Program (MPLP) has openings for summer law clerks.
MPLP is a joint project of Legal Services of South Central Michigan (LSSCM) and the University of Michigan Law School (UMLS). MPLP provides state support services to legal services programs and other poverty law advocates throughout Michigan. These services include case consultation and other case assistance, staffing the state substantive law task forces, planning and managing statewide trainings, etc. For more information on the Michigan Poverty Law Program visit our website at: http://www.mplp.org.
Job Description: Legal research and writing, legislative tracking and analysis and someindividual case practice in poverty law (housing, public benefits, consumer, elder and family law).
Qualifications: Law students, preferably with one year of law school completed. It is helpful if the student has experience working with low-income persons. All applicants are encouraged to apply, especially minorities, women and disabled persons. All applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for stipends at their schools and/or fellowships such as Student Funded Fellowships, Equal Justice Works and Equal Justice America Legal Services Fellowships. Please note that the application deadline for Equal Justice Works is April 17 and the application deadline for the Equal Justice America Fellowship is March 22, 2010.
