Thomas M. Cooley Law School, the largest J.D. program in the nation, and a school committed to practical legal scholarship, is seeking candidates for a part-time (20 hours per week) Staff Attorney position at our Grand Rapids campus.
Responsibilities include serving patrons at the Legal Assistance Center (LAC) at the Kent County Courthouse which includes the distribution of forms to pro se litigants as well as the provision of limited assistance with navigation of the courtroom and filing procedures; training and supervising student volunteers; presenting information about the LAC to community and advocacy groups; and other duties as required.
Qualifications: J.D. or equivalent and a license to practice law in Michigan law are required; interest in providing legal services to low income communities; some experience with family law preferred.
