Position: Statewide Legal Technology Coordinator
Duties: We're looking for a tech savvy lawyer or paralegal to implement two statewide legal technology projects for the Michigan Poverty Law Program. The first is to provide support and training to legal aid programs throughout the state of Michigan on a common legal aid case management system (Pika) and the second is to work with MPLP attorneys to develop legal content to maintain and improve our web sites: michiganlegalaid.org and mplp.org.
About the Michigan Poverty Law Program: The Michigan Poverty Law Program (MPLP) is a state support and advocacy program that is a cooperative effort of Legal Services of South Central Michigan and the University of Michigan Law School. The state support office is located on the University of Michigan campus, adjacent to the law school. MPLP provides support and training to legal aid programs throughout the State and pursues litigation and legislative advocacy on behalf of Michigan's low-income families. Desired Qualifications: We are looking for an innovative and self-motivated person who combines a legal background and strong technology skills with a demonstrated interest in serving the poor. Excellent written and oral communication skills a must. Law degree strongly preferred but we may consider non-attorney candidates with comparable poverty advocacy experience.
Bonus points for familiarity with any of the following technologies:

Minimum Qualifications:
(1) Proven ability to effectively communicate and interact with users and technical staff.
(2) J.D. or similar legal experience.
(3) Experience with Internet technologies and legal case management databases.
Location: University of Michigan - Main Campus, Ann Arbor, Michigan
Salary and Benefits: Salary from $40,000 DOE. Excellent health care and benefits program.
